About the role
In this role you will provide essential administrative and operational support to the School Crossings team. This position ensures the smooth functioning of day-to-day activities while contributing to the safety and wellbeing of school communities through proactive audits and educational outreach.
The role involves conducting on-site inspections, identifying safety risks, and supporting school crossing supervisors. It also includes developing culturally inclusive educational materials and engaging with schools to promote safe pedestrian behaviours. A strong focus on customer service, collaboration, and continuous improvement underpins all aspects of the role.
Work type: Fixed Term - Full Time through to 30 June 2026
Classification: Band 5 Commencing from $81,005 (pa plus super – pro rata)
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver services to School Crossings within the service program guidelines and standards.
- Conduct school crossing site inspections and audits to identify safety risks.
- Develop and deliver multilingual, culturally inclusive education materials for schools and communities.
- Perform accurate and timely administrative tasks to support team operations.
- Ensure that work practices reflect the organisational values and expected behaviours.
- Deliver high-quality customer service and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Assist with office-based administrative duties and maintain databases and rosters.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced administrative professional, who enjoys working in a fast paced environment, with the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people. You will be highly organised, have a keen eye for detail, enjoy problem solving and have a solutions focused mindset.
Essential Experience:
- Well-developed communication skills including interpersonal and written skills.
- Competence in using business systems and software including databases, rostering tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to engage with diverse communities respectfully and inclusively, with sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Experience working collaboratively in a team environment, supporting colleagues, and contributing to shared goals.
- Capacity to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
- Current Working with Children Check (Employee).
- Preferred candidates will be required to complete a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
