About the role
The Senior Lead, Finance Optimisation Program is responsible for designing, leading, and delivering a transformative program to enhance the City’s core Financial Services functions. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation, this pivotal role will uplift financial processes, maximise the benefits of Oracle Financials and related system integrations, and build future capability through continuous improvement and training. A key focus will be enabling real-time financial reporting and data-driven insights to support informed, strategic decision-making across the City.

Work type: 2 year fixed-term contract.
Classification: SPL $172,375 + pa + super.

  • Act as a strategic advisor to the Chief Financial Officer, collaborating with senior leaders and the Digital Information & Technology team to ensure financial optimisation initiatives align with broader digital transformation goals.
  • Provide strategic leadership in optimising the City’s long-term digital and financial systems investment program, ensuring future readiness and delivering measurable efficiencies that improve community service outcomes.
  • Serve as the key liaison between business units, technical teams, and stakeholders, ensuring the successful delivery of projects and realisation of value.
  • Define and own the product vision and roadmap, collaborating with key stakeholders to prioritise features and initiatives, ensure alignment with strategic objectives, and monitor performance and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation and integration across the City’s finance systems, including Oracle Financials, to drive process efficiencies.
  • Develop and deliver real-time financial reporting tools and dashboards that support transparency, compliance, and performance monitoring, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
  • Facilitate and lead business requirements workshops, collaborating with key stakeholders to understand the product vision and user needs, and translating these into clear, concise, and actionable business requirements and user stories.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in accounting/commerce or significant professional experience in a comparable organisation.

Essential Experience:

  • Significant professional experience in financial systems administration
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and practices related to financial management and services.
  • Extensive functional experience with Oracle ERP, particularly financials, reporting, data management, and system integrations.
  • Proven experience leading business change, driving process and technology optimisation initiatives.
  • Skilled in managing relationships with third-party software vendors, ensuring alignment and value delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a Working with Children’s check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
