About the role
In this role, you will supervise and lead staff and contracted services engaged in infrastructure maintenance activities across the municipality, ensuring that established quality standards are achieved within set timeframes and in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety guidelines. This position will also assist the Maintenance Officer City Works with the allocation of daily duties and maintenance programs to field personnel for operations performed within the allocated zone of the City of Greater Geelong.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide effective leadership to a team of field staff and sub-contractors, focused on delivering high-quality outcomes through the continued development of team safety, capability, and engagement.
  • Competently coordinate the delivery and performance of in-house works crews through the efficient monitoring and use of physical, human and financial resources.
  • Promote a safety culture, ensuring staff and sub-contractor compliance to relevant OH&S policies and legislation, safety regulations and Codes of Practice.
  • Order goods, materials and services, prepare, check and process (within approval limits) the necessary documentation including verification and authorising of documentation.
  • Professional and courteous customer service to resident requests regarding our operations.
  • Provide advice, support and recommendations to the Maintenance Officer/s and the Coordinator Maintenance across a range of operational and strategic matters that attribute to the commercial success of the maintenance unit.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a Certificate IV in Civil Construction or equivalent, or more than five years work experience in civil operations. You will also have:

  • Experience in supervising civil maintenance operations.
  • Experience in leading small teams.
  • Demonstrated ability in promoting a safety culture.
  • Exposure in cost and quantity estimation, basic budgeting ad expenditure monitoring.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
