About the role
In this role, you will oversee the delivery of capital projects within the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program (Commonwealth Games Legacy). Success requires effective communication with stakeholders, providing specialist advice, and applying project management principles to achieve positive outcomes.
Work type: Temporary Full Time (24 months)
Classification: Band 7 $100,064 - $110,990 pa plus super
Key responsibilities include:
- Effective program management of assigned capital projects within the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.
- Provide coordination and oversight to support project delivery including:
- Project support and coordination to lead delivery and partner agencies to ensure best project outcomes.
- management of agency relationship, stakeholder coordination and issue resolution.
- Effectively supervise construction phases of projects to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to specifications set out in contracts
- Ensure that effective project reporting mechanisms are implemented meeting the needs of the Director, Councillors, key stakeholders and corporate reporting requirements
- Ensure effective communication and liaison processes with stakeholders including service managers, Councillors and end user groups are implemented.
- Provide specialist advice and assistance to Unit staff on complex and political issues relating to the portfolio under close supervision and with clear guidelines.
About you
We are seeking a skilled project manager with experience delivering complex infrastructure projects, preferably within sporting environments. The ideal candidate will excel at building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, demonstrate adaptability, resilience and critical thinking and effectively prioritize tasks in high-pressure situations.
Essential Experience:
- Tertiary qualification/diploma in Project Management or relevant discipline.
- Several years of experience in Project Management and/or Strategic Planning.
- Experience in community liaison and State/Federal Government funding partner relationships.
- Proven experience in project management in either the construction management (civil or building) or recreation facilities areas.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of judgement to enable quality decision making within a project management context.
- Ability to develop and monitor implementation plans and budgets.
- An understanding of local government is highly regarded
