About the role
In this role you will be working in an Aquatic Leisure Centre team to deliver and supervise the day to day operation of the Centre including plant and staff, according to Royal Life Saving Society Australia (RLSSA) guidelines and City of Greater Geelong procedures.

Classification: Band 4 - $44.00 p/h including casual loading

Key responsibilities include:

  • Be responsible for the daily operations of the Aquatics facilities including plant and pool maintenance, staff supervision, customer service, and safety of staff and patrons.
  • Ensure end of shift and daily balancing of the register is carried out in accordance with Swim Sport & Leisure banking procedures.
  • Resolve day to day problems of staff and patrons where possible to their satisfaction. Answer centre and phone enquires regarding the complex.
  • Take a proactive role in ensuring centre communication channels are operating efficiently.
  • Assist in Managing the performance of other relevant program staff such as swim teachers, coaches and lifeguards.
  • Induct new centre staff informing them of their duties, responsibilities and demonstrate tasks, which they are to perform around the complex.
  • Supervise all Lifeguards at the venue ensuring that they are conversant with all pool policies and scanning techniques are adhered to.
  • Attend training and maintain qualifications in line with peak industry body recommendations/guidelines.
  • Ensure the water quality of the swimming pools is maintained in accordance with the Health Department Regulations.
  • Perform routine pool plant maintenance including pool testing, backwashing and chemical dosing.

About you
The ideal candidate for this role will be experienced in running the day-to-day operations of a Leisure Centre and the supervision of staff. You will have high levels of attention to detail and resilience, enjoy finding practical solutions to complex problems, with a safety first and professional approach to your work.

Essential Experience:

  • Understanding of the leisure industry and its commercial orientation.
  • Knowledge of swimming and lifesaving techniques and RLSSA awards and practices in relation to aquatic activities and ability to train staff and customers in these areas.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate pool plant and machinery.
  • The ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Current Level 2 First Aid, CPR and Pool Lifeguard certificate.
  • Current (employee) Working with Children’s Check.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to complete a National Police Check and undergo a Medical and Functional Assessment.
