About the role
In this role, you will lead a team responsible for developing and implementing innovative and effective policies, strategies, plans and practices for effective management of the City’s civil infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide effective leadership and management of the Infrastructure Unit to deliver a high quality and positive service to internal and external customers.
  • Deliver high quality customer service for the community and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage capital and renewal programs for the City’s civil infrastructure.
  • Process and deliver permits for activities which impact the City’s civil infrastructure.
  • Undertake a mentoring/coaching role that shares technical knowledge and experience with respect to civil infrastructure, with other engineers and officers.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, enabling certification as a Registered Professional Engineer and the ability to demonstrate extensive experience in Civil Engineering at a senior level, including several years in the field of road and drainage engineering.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience working with professional/technical staff, consultants and contractors, managers, and stakeholders to resolve high priority, and often sensitive and complex matters.
  • Demonstrates a high level of knowledge and leadership in the civil construction industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, including influencing and `negotiating, rapport building, and report writing.
  • Demonstrated experience in investigation, analysis and selection of roads and drainage treatment options, assessment and analysis to ensure service delivery is optimised.
  • Ability to analyse complex and significant road and drainage issues and think laterally to come up with innovative and efficient solutions.
  • Excellent working knowledge of road and drainage design, investigations, civil works and Infrastructure Development Programs.
