About the role
In this role, you will also play a part in increasing education, training opportunities and outcomes for City of Greater Geelong staff using ‘in-house’, Educational and Learning Institutes and industry partners to deliver relevant skill sets to employees.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plan, design, develop, implement and monitor a divisional staffing capabilities framework to enhance employee capability, with particular focus on OHS training requirements and compliance thereof (including special engagement).
  • Ensure identified employee skill gaps are addressed through accredited training providers or development opportunities within your control.
  • Facilitate the technical development program in line with defined succession plans.
  • Undertake proactive and periodic review of training content, training documents, legislation to ensure currency, relevance, accuracy and the City’s compliance thereof.
  • Source and engage suitable accredited training materials and providers and coordinate training delivery with People Leaders and participants.
  • Ensure all compliance training records are current and appropriately stored.
  • Manage divisional training budget to ensure cost effective training delivery.  

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in development, delivery and assessment of vocational education and training programs.

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in training program design and development and awareness of contemporary adult training practice and methodologies.
  • Experience in interpreting legislation, policy and procedure documentation with an ability to translate these into operation and work practice to ensure training compliance.
  • Ability to produce and analyse reports/documents and summarise relevant issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to plan, organise and manage time with minimal supervision to effectively establish priority schedules and manage tasks, to ensure work priorities are completed independently and within defined timelines.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills and the ability to meet set priorities.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound problem-solving initiative and recommend and carry out solutions.
