City of Greater Geelong are proud to support Tertiary students enrolled in a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or University with placements across our various business areas. These opportunities provide students with invaluable pre-professional experience to support their academic studies and gives exposure to the insights of how a large organisation operates, working in a multi faceted team environment and delivering on multi disciplinary projects.
We offer three types of placement opportunities:
RTO Placements: Students enrolled in a TAFE or other RTO are often required to complete a work placement as part of the course. These placements are unpaid and are a requirement to complete the course.
Professional Experience Placements: A professional experience placement/s is a requirement of some undergraduate and postgraduate university courses to develop practical experience and skills. These placements are unpaid. We support placements for Organisational Psychology, Teaching and Maternal Child Health Nursing students.
Internships or Work Integrated Learning: Internships, also called Work Integrated Learning placements, are undertaken by a university student in their penultimate or final year as a credit towards their degree. These roles are unpaid and students must be enrolled in the relevant unit.
Our placement opportunities offer flexible, blended working arrangements, based on business needs, student availability, and scope of the project and tasks. These placements are coordinated through your institution to ensure you are enrolled in a suitable unit to receive credit for the hours worked, hence the positions are unpaid.
We have opportunities across a broad range of business areas and disciplines throughout the year however it is dependent on business capacity. Please register your interest and if a suitable placement opportunity becomes available, our Talent Acquisition team will be in contact with you.
