Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 11 with a minimum of $17.20 and a mid-point of $22.93. Hourly rate offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty in the Center for Global Engagement by providing assistance in the admission, enrollment, and retention functions for international students, and coordinating specific aspects of the International Student Homestay Program in collaboration with manager.   Work is distinguished by coordinating international student activities and providing support for students seeking to study abroad. Direction is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school;
  2. Minimum three years direct experience working with students in a higher education setting. Interest in working with international students and families.
  3. Considerable skill in intercultural communication and appreciation of cultural diversity
  4. Working skill in Microsoft Office Software.
  5. Considerable oral and written communication skills.
  6. Considerable analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  8. Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  2. Experience with international students in a higher education setting.
  3. Working skill in Terra Dotta database management system.
  4. Working skill in Salesforce CRM.
  5. Working knowledge of housing management or homestay programming.

Essential Duties:

  1. Coordinate specific areas of the International Student Homestay Program, in collaboration with supervisor, including recruitment of new host families, application processing, answering inquiries and questions from prospective/new/current students in the program, vetting and background checks of host families, creating and maintaining a list of alternative housing options, and providing housing resource assistance for international students.
  2. Provide student enrollment support in the admission, enrollment, and retention functions for international students. Answer questions from prospective/new students. Provide general reception.  Utilize college systems including but not limited to Colleague, Terra Dotta, and Salesforce to update international student applications, enrollment status, and other information as needed to provide timely and accurate support to students to meet enrollment goals. Assist with maintaining student information databases; assist with insurance processing, international student orientation, international student activities.
  3. Provide support for study abroad and exchange participants. Answer questions from prospective study abroad students and schedule advising appointments. Assist with system updates for application for study abroad (such as brochure updates, deployment and creation of material items, questionnaires, recommendations, and learning content as assigned) as requested by Associate Dean. Assist with special events, as assigned, including but not limited to: GIST and International Week.
Other Duties:
  1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
  2. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
