Job Overview

The Project Rebound (PR) Outreach/Retention Counselor position is responsible for counseling and advising including, but not limited to, prospective applicants, external partners on admission-related issues; and participating in various recruitment and outreach yield activities for Project Rebound. Incumbent will work with formerly incarcerated, and system impacted students. The position advises prospective students on the requirements for admission to the University. The position assist with the marketing and communication efforts for the Project Rebound, especially as it relates to community colleges, strategic partners, high schools, continuation high schools, county court schools and community organizations. Incumbent has a professional level of expertise in all areas of admissions for freshman and transfer applicants, and a comprehensive knowledge of educational support processes. The position also provides retention services such as personal, academic, financial and success counseling; develops and implements retention strategies and services for PR students.

Position Summary

Outreach/Retention Counselor (Student Services Professional II)

This is a full time, temporary, exempt position ending on or before June 30, 2024. Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $4,610 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,610 - $6,556 per month
