About the Position:

The office of Central Development is dedicated to increasing community, tradition, and contributions to the University by working together with the campus community. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Gift Processor (Accounting Technician I).  The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity. 

Reporting to the Director of Gift Compliance and Data Services, the Gift Processor executes the necessary daily activities to record, document, and receipt all gifts and memberships received by the California State University Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation. Maintain familiarity with policy, processes, and procedures for all types of gift transactions, including but not limited to pledges, cash, matching gifts, gifts-in-kind, gifts for faculty research, and quid pro quo transactions. This position will be responsible for maintaining donor database records, conducting quality controls, processing and maintaining monthly payroll deduction gifts, and responding to inquiries from University Advancement staff regarding gift deposits. On a monthly basis, transmit payroll deduct allocation additions, cancellations, or changes to the state. Reconcile pledge reports to the monthly state payroll deduct statement and create a batch report for accounting input. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Two years or the equivalent of general office, clerical or financial record-keeping experience or successful completion of a California State University (CSU) campus training program in financial record keeping or any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

General knowledge of financial record-keeping methods, procedures, and practices, arithmetic and general office procedures. Familiarity with, or the ability to learn, governmental financial record-keeping methods. Ability to review financial documents for accuracy, completeness, validity, and adherence to standards. Ability to compute and post figures accurately. Ability to maintain files and records and identify, trace, and correct errors. Ability to follow directions and interpret and apply written rules and regulations. Ability to operate a calculator, adding machine, typewriter and/or word processor. Ability to use personal computers and/or automated accounting systems. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with university personnel and vendors. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, alertness, and sound judgment in responding to others. Ability to read and write in English at a level appropriate to the position. 

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

Education or training in accounting. Ability to use good judgment to independently solve problems. Experience in processing incoming funds, including making credit card charges. Work experience in nonprofit or public organizations that receive donated funds, and an awareness of how those funds are solicited, allocated and used. Experience working with relational databases, preferable Raisers Edge NXT. Proficiency in using administrative computing system(s), databases, MS Office applications, accounting programs, and other relevant software applications.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
