JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications is a seasoned communications professional responsible for shaping and executing integrated communication strategies that strengthen Universal Destinations & Experiences reputation. This role drives proactive media engagement, develops compelling content, and partners with other stakeholders to position the company as an industry leader, an employer of choice and a strong community partner. The Senior Manager must be comfortable identifying and remediating issues, managing media inquiries and serving as a spokesperson when appropriate. The role collaborates cross-functionally, globally, and in close alignment with NBCUniversal and Comcast communications teams to story mine, plan and ensure message consistency. With expertise in content strategy and brand stewardship, this leader ensures consistency of voice and storytelling across platforms, safeguarding and enhancing the corporate brand in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead development of comprehensive communications plans that support a range of company initiatives, including community impact, government relations, new ventures, team member storytelling, and corporate-level issues/crisis communications. Provide consistent mentorship, coaching and feedback to direct reports, including goal setting and career development.
  • Shapes and manages corporate messaging to promote and enhance Universal Destinations & Experiences’ reputation. Leads efforts to surface and amplify stories across the business, helping to guide media, content, and owned-channel strategies in alignment with NBCUniversal and Comcast communications teams. Participates as a member of the crisis communications team, assisting in the development and execution of crisis communications plans and supporting a consistent approach to crisis messaging across destinations.
  • Proactively pitches and engages with local, national, and industry media to secure impactful, reputation-based coverage. Builds and fosters strong relationships with journalists, community leaders, and other key external stakeholders. Manages the corporate communications mailbox to ensure timely and accurate handling of inquiries. Serves as a company spokesperson when appropriate, representing the brand with credibility and confidence.
  • Develops compelling executive communications and thought leadership content, including speeches, talking points, op-eds and presentations for senior leaders. Partners with executives to highlight the company’s vision and business priorities at conferences, industry forums, and external events.
  • Creates and oversees development of compelling multimedia content (video, photos, digital, and written) to support corporate communications programming. Ensures consistency of voice and brand storytelling across digital and owned platforms while leveraging new technologies and evolving communication methods.

  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field or experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 7-10 years’ experience in communications; experience writing and editing publications preferred.
  • Must have experience managing a public and recognized brand.
  • Must have an established history of high-level corporate presentations.
  • Must be a clear communicator able to collaborate with executive leadership.
  • Social media, graphic design, photography and video development a plus.
  • Strong familiarity with research and data analytics required.
  • Event planning experience preferred.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally across all departments globally, building and maintaining strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate and partner with other Universal Parks & Resorts divisions, ensuring consistent branding and communications.
  • Strong design background, demonstrating expert level in PowerPoint, Keynote and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong writing background, with experience writing and editing publications preferred.
  • Experience with strategic planning, concept brainstorming, campaign development, creative brief development and creative execution.
  • Understanding of presentation technology including aspect ratios, projectors, sound, and video equipment. Understanding of image formats, resolution, and size.
  • A professional demeanor.
  • Ability to think creatively and justify concepts to clients and team members.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven aptitude for quick creative thinking with acute attention to detail within demanding deadlines.
  • Must have deep business acumen and ability to understand and translate “business speak” as well as to guide and counsel leaders in achieving their desired communications outcomes.
  • Ability to work under pressure, deadlines, and incomplete information.
  • Able to communicate effectively to executive leadership team.
  • Able to lead and manage team of people.
  • Must be willing and able to travel.
