Manager, Technical Entertainment (Project Based Role)

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the planning and execution of Discretionary and Capital projects within Technical Entertainment, while collaborating with all levels of management in the department for input. Works closely with the Operational and Technical Entertainment field management team, Universal Creative, Facilities, Engineering, Planned Work and vendors to define, develop, and execute the scope of their assignments as it relates to each of their respective specialties. Responsible for following the established project management process to deploy projects to meet business objectives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends project meetings as Technical Entertainment Stakeholder. Reviewing, contributing to and managing the technical entertainment budget.
  • Creating Technical SOP’s for Entertainment offerings under new projects – Venues, Atmosphere, Events, etc. Staffing levels for Technical Entertainment per venue. Partnering with Project CORE team on all equipment needed and training documents/programs. Creating safety training and equipment training programs.
  • Commissioning plans for tech on shows and atmosphere needs. Tech grids partnering with project Entertainment leadership. Review Ergonomics if necessary, for tech positions in shows.
  • Review Blue Beams and consult FFE needs. Create consumable plans per venue for technical entertainment.
  • Partner with current Entertainment senior leadership on high risk (pyro, fireworks, flame, rigging) as well as mockup space in warehouse. Ensuring consistency with current UO programs on maintenance and other requirements.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: 

  • High school degree or GED required. 
  • Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred. 

EXPERIENCE: 

  • 5+ years’ experience within the professional entertainment or theme park industry required. 
  • 5+ years in management or supervisory position preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
