JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Universal Creative Legal & Business Affairs department, the attorney will support Universal Creative’s projects by negotiating, drafting and interpreting complex commercial contracts, letter agreements, service contracts, licenses and other legal documentation, managing compliance and regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, dispute resolution, and also by providing legal advice and support in the areas of clearances and agreements relating to talent, music, and the use of other creative assets necessary for the various projects.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide legal support for designated client(s)/business unit(s) within Universal Creative by negotiating, drafting and interpreting commercial contracts.
- Provide legal advice and support in the areas of clearances and agreements relating to talent, music, and the use of other assets necessary for the various projects
- Ensure compliance with corporate contracting policies and procedures. Participate in the development of training materials surrounding contractual compliance, licensing requirements, regulatory obligations and required internal approvals.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
EDUCATION:
- Juris Doctor or LLM required from an accredited law school
EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years’ post-law school experience, as an attorney, preferably with a law firm or corporate legal department, interpreting, negotiating and drafting complex commercial transactions and working on clearances and contracts for talent, music, and other creative assets.
