The Opportunity
The Teaching Support Administration Officer is a central role in the Education portfolio in Engineering, overseeing the administration of teaching timetables, exams, results, casual academics and general academic support. The role will work closely with the Team Leaders, Academic Program Authorities and Course Convenors to support the administration of undergraduate and postgraduate programs and courses. The role of Teaching Support Administration Officer reports to the School Manager, Civil and Environmental Engineering with a dotted line to the TSA Team Leader and has no direct reports.

- Level 5 - $92,265 to $104,401 per annum + 17% superannuation
- Level 6 - $108,021 to $115,233 per annum + 17% superannuation
- Employment type: Full Time
- Appointment type: Fixed Term to December 2027

Skills and Experience
Level 5
- Responsible for Term Planning and Class Maintenance activities including timetabling, class scheduling, clash free course combinations (CFCCs), creation of Moodle courses and relevant room bookings.
- Deliver consistent, accurate and customer focused advice to solve diverse teaching/education related enquiries, referring to UNSW policy and procedures as required.
- Process casual academic recruitment through Unihire and oversee processes relating to their onboarding and payment.
- Responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework thesis support to Thesis Coordinators in Schools, including the organisation of submissions, seminars and poster sessions.
- Act as the administrative contact for Astra, performing quality assurance checks on grades prior to submission and coordinating the approval of final grades with Assessment Review Committees to ensure all grades are entered in a timely manner.
- Support with the implementation and evaluation of learning, teaching and assessment programs within the Faculty of Engineering.
- Provide administrative support to Academic Learning and Teaching Coordinators including reviewing and updating admission check sheets and producing and maintaining requisite flow charts.
- Respond to requests from academic staff and provide proactive advice and solution-focused action in a timely and accurate manner.
- Responsible for monitoring enrolments and provision of enrolment information to Schools including but not limited to:
- Reporting on class utilisation and recommendations for additional or reduction of classes;
- Using enrolment patterns to monitor and forecast future enrolment numbers; and
- Assisting Schools in making term planning decisions about class sizes, class numbers and casual academic hiring.
- Responsible for assessment planning, including collating assessment planning data and exam papers from academics, facilitating academic review of assessment tasks, creating internal timetables, coordinating online and distance examinations.
Level 6 (in addition to the above)
- Significant relevant experience in a similar role in a tertiary organisation.
- Experience providing a broad range of teaching administration support and advice to Academic staff.
- Demonstrated ability to apply, interpret, advise on and contribute to the development of policies, systems, manuals, rules, procedures and guidelines.
