Position Summary

The Clinical Project Coordinator coordinates the development, implementation and monitoring of clinical research projects within the Viral Hepatitis Clinical Research Program, with a primary focus on SEARCH-C Cambodia. The role supports all stages of study delivery, including protocol development, ethics and governance, site set-up, data collection and quality, stakeholder engagement, budgets, reporting and funding applications.

Working closely with Cambodian partners, participating hospitals, investigators and other stakeholders, the position ensures research activities are delivered in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice requirements and relevant UNSW and Kirby Institute procedures.

The role reports to the Clinical Trials Manager, Viral Hepatitis Clinical Research Program and has no direct reports.

Some Key Skills Required:

  • Graduate qualifications in biomedical science, health science, public health, nursing or another relevant discipline, with relevant experience coordinating multicentre clinical trials or clinical research projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating clinical trials or clinical research projects in emergency department (ED) settings.
  • Demonstrated experience managing clinical research projects from start-up through implementation, including preparation of protocols, case report forms, study manuals, training materials and site coordination activities in accordance with relevant Good Clinical Practice requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience completing and managing ethics, governance and regulatory applications for clinical research; international or multi-jurisdictional approvals experience will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience managing clinical research data and databases such as REDCap, including data quality processes; experience with research specimen collection and laboratory workflows will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and managing project budgets, research agreements, procurement and vendor or contract arrangements, and contributing to grant or other funding applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and governance meetings and build effective relationships with investigators, clinicians, health services, laboratories, government agencies and international partner organisations.
