Why your role matters
The Power Platform Specialist, (internally called Senior Business Enablement Analyst) leads the design, optimisation and implementation of scalable digital solutions that extend CRM platforms and student systems. Personally using/leveraging low-code platforms, AI-enabled tools, and emerging technologies, the role drives business process improvement, automation, and improved service delivery across student and staff-facing operations. Speciality skills include: Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse, Power Apps, Power Query, Custom apps, Model driven apps, process improvement, process optimisation, D365 and emerging AI technology.
Working closely with business stakeholders, the role identifies opportunities to re-engineer processes and delivers sustainable, user-centred solutions aligned with institutional priorities. It translates operational needs into practical technical solutions that streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve responsiveness, while also supporting experimentation through prototypes and proof of concept initiatives.
This is a hands-on technical delivery role with direct accountability for the design, implementation, and delivery of technical outcomes. While collaboration with other technical teams across UNSW is encouraged, the role does not have a dedicated technical team reporting to it. The successful candidate must therefore possess strong technical skills and be capable of delivering solutions independently while effectively leveraging expertise across the broader organisation where required.
This Senior role mentors junior analysts and from time-to-time citizen developers within teams, fostering a culture of enablement and continuous improvement. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, solution design, stakeholder engagement, and delivery oversight to ensure platforms are secure, effective, and sustainable. The position reports to the Manager, Student Systems (Core Connections) and has one direct report.
Specific accountabilities include:
- Continuously assess platform capabilities, new features, and emerging technologies to inform solution roadmaps and foster a culture of innovation. Apply expertise in Agile delivery, business process reengineering, CRM, and digital solution design—including low-code platforms (LCAP) and AI—to deliver improvements that enhance the student and staff experience.
- Collaborate with IT, academic divisions, student services, vendors, and governance bodies to ensure cross-functional alignment, stakeholder buy-in, and user-centred design.
- Translate complex business needs into practical solutions that emphasise scalability, reusability, automation, and alignment with business-led strategies.
