  • Remuneration: Academic Level A$118,467 + 17% Super + Annual Leave Loading
  • Location: Sydney, New South Wales. This is an onsite position
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold unrestricted work rights to be considered for this position.

Position Summary

The Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A) will contribute to a research program focused on developing novel small molecule therapeutic approaches for cardiovascular disease within the Vascular Biology and Translational Research Laboratory. Reporting to Professor Levon Khachigian and Head of the Laboratory, the role will undertake high-quality experimental research using a range of molecular, cellular and animal model techniques to advance the understanding and treatment of cardiovascular disease.

Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team, the Postdoctoral Fellow will design and conduct experiments, analyse and interpret research data, contribute to publications and the dissemination of research findings, and support the broader research program. The role also involves participating in laboratory meetings, conferences and collaborative research activities, while contributing to the supervision of research students and the ongoing development of research excellence. The role has no direct reports.

Some Key Skills Required:

  • A PhD in Medical Sciences or a related discipline, and relevant work experience. Expertise in cardiovascular biology is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise and practical surgical experience in rodent models of cardiovascular disease.
  • Hands on experience in Western blotting, immunohistochemical staining, flow cytometry, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, etc.
  • Hands on experience using rodent models of cancer would also be an advantage.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research, plan and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
