The Opportunity

  • Full-time (35 hours week), 12-month fixed term contract, possible extension
  • $103,866 - $123,302 plus 17% superannuation (depending on experience)
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements 

The Technical Business Analyst plays a key role in shaping and enhancing the digital platforms and data systems that underpin world-leading research and innovation at UNSW. Working across a complex enterprise environment, you will partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand challenges, identify opportunities, and deliver technology enabled improvements that enhance how research information, services and processes are managed across the University.

In this role, you will act as the bridge between business needs and technology outcomes, translating requirements into practical solutions that deliver value for users and stakeholders. You will support a diverse portfolio of initiatives, including business process improvement, enterprise platform enhancements, reporting and analytics, and the implementation of new capabilities that support the evolving needs of the research community.

Working closely with colleagues across Faculties, Schools, Divisions and external partners, you will build strong relationships and navigate complex stakeholder environments to deliver meaningful outcomes. Who you are

Level 6

You can demonstrate your experience within Higher Education or another large complex organisation with an understanding of research administration, corporate systems, and project delivery as well as:

  • Business analysis, coordinating technical projects, and supporting the maintenance and enhancement of online research systems through requirements gathering, wireframing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail across all deliverables produced.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • Experience working with enterprise systems, reporting platforms, and business analysis tools, including Microsoft 365 applications, SQL, Python, and data visualisation or reporting tools.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

 Level 7 (in addition to Level 6 Accountabilities)

  • Stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering for large-scale business process change and/or information system implementations.
  • Analytical and technical skills for collecting, interpreting and evaluating both quantitative and qualitative information with the ability to successfully interpret business processes and design complete and effective process improvements.
  • Implementing new systems or major changes to an existing system in a complex environment, including providing business analysis, process mapping, data migration, wireframing, systems configuration, and user acceptance testing services.
