Position Summary

A Senior Project Officer provides consultative project management, analytical reporting and support for projects.

This role will:

  • Monitor the delivery of projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of project plans, schedules.
  • Identify and provide solutions to project risks and issues.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders to ensure project metrics including time, cost and quality are being met within defined deliverables and deadlines.
  • Provide strategic and detailed project support and advice to project team and stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are managed consistently and adheres to UNSW governance requirements.
  • Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
  • Review existing Health Promotions programs (physical, mental, relational and sexual health) against best practice frameworks and sector benchmarks.
  • Assess strategic alignment between current activities and UNSW's Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy and student success priorities.
  • Synthesise findings from stakeholder consultations, data review and document analysis.
  • Produce clear, senior-ready reports and recommendations that inform the future direction of the unit.
  • Design and deliver outreach initiatives that build genuine connection and community across the student body.
  • Develop and facilitate programs, events and touchpoints spanning the full spectrum of student health and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively across internal teams — Health Services, Arc, Student Communications, Peer Programs — for integrated student experiences.
  • Monitor, evaluate and iterate community engagement initiatives using evidence and student insight.
  • Contribute to strategic planning as UNSW evolves its approach to student health, belonging and outreach.

A person engaged is generally expected to have the following skills and experience:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and extensive project management experience.
  • Proven experience in the development of project plans, objectives, documentation and demonstrated understanding of the project life cycle.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy and skills in Microsoft Office applications and project related databases and management systems.
  • Experience in health promotion, public health, community development or a closely related field or community/outreach organisations welcome.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess programs and strategies against evidence-based frameworks.
  • Comfortable designing engagement initiatives for large and diverse populations.
