This isn't your typical Health & Safety Advisor role.
As Health & Safety Advisor - Construction & Facilities, you'll support one of Australia's largest and most diverse estates, partnering with leaders, project teams and contractors across a broad range of complex, high-risk environments.
From major construction and infrastructure projects to contractor operations and specialist facilities, you'll play a critical role in managing risk, improving safety performance and enabling the world-class research and teaching that makes UNSW Australia's leading university.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with leaders, project teams and contractors to deliver practical health and safety solutions across a diverse operational environment.
- Provide expert advice on critical risk management, contractor safety, incident investigations, hazard management and risk assessments.
- Support high-risk construction, infrastructure and contractor activities by ensuring effective safety systems and controls are in place.
- Conduct inspections, audits and assurance activities to verify critical controls and drive continuous improvement.
- Coach and support leaders to strengthen safety capability, risk awareness and decision-making.
- Develop and improve health and safety systems, reporting, tools and resources.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and collaborate across the University to deliver tailored safety solutions.
- Identify emerging risks and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and transformational projects.
- Support crisis management and emergency response activities when required.
Who You Are
You're an experienced Health & Safety professional who enjoys working in complex, high-risk environments and partnering with people to solve problems. You bring a practical approach, strong technical capability and the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role within complex, high-risk operational environments.
- Experience working within construction, infrastructure, contractor management, estates, engineering, utilities or similar industries.
- Strong capability in risk assessment, incident investigation, contractor safety and assurance activities.
- Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience interpreting safety data and using insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of psychosocial and physical risk management, health and wellbeing, and injury prevention.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in health and safety.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a passion for creating safer workplaces
