Details of the role

The Project Officer plays a vital role within the Asia and Pacific Health Program, providing practical and efficient support for the delivery of cervical cancer projects in Papua New Guinea. This includes coordinating project activities, assisting with reporting and data analysis, developing communications, and supporting relationship management with key internal and external stakeholders.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to high-impact global health initiatives focused on cervical cancer prevention in the Asia–Pacific region. Working closely with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of complex projects in a dynamic research environment. You will be relied upon for your ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate activities across multiple workstreams, and communicate clearly with internal and external partners. With a strong focus on collaboration, problem-solving and practical project delivery, this role enables you to make a meaningful contribution to programs that place communities at the centre of global health research and outcomes.

The role is within the Asia and Pacific Health Program, and reports to the Senior Project Officer. This position has no direct reports.

  • Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders including cross-cultural communication
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). Experience in Adobe Creative applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) an advantage, but not essential.

  • Project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
