Research Manager (Centre for Molecular Oncology)
- Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
- Duration: Fixed Term until 31 December 2027
- Remuneration: $127k - $143k base (+17% super, annual leave loading)

The Centre for Molecular Oncology is a new research centre established within the School of Biomedical Sciences at UNSW which is dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of cancer. The Centre applies basic, translational and clinical approaches to understanding cancer biology through patient-centred discovery programs and uses this information to improve patient outcomes through clinical trials.
About the role
This position will manage the operations of the consenting team in the Cancer Screening Program (CaSP) within the Centre for Molecular Oncology (CMO). This role will actively develop and implement practices and procedures to support the research activities of CaSP.
This will involve collecting, managing, and data analysis while building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive research outcomes. The position will also be expected to lead and supervise the CaSP consenting team (up to 8 direct reports) and other research staff or students, and design and manage research databases and systems to monitor performance, report on key metrics, and recommend improvements.
Key skills and experience required:
- Biomedical Science Degree highly regarded, with substantial extension of the theories and principles normally requiring extensive relevant graduate experience and a range of management experience (including people management).
- Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office, customised patient databases and Confluence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced. Proven ability to influence senior management and stakeholders as appropriate to ensure successful outcomes.
- Sound influencing and consultation skills and proven ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
