- Remuneration: $127,351 base, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading

Details of the role
The Project Manager will play a lead role within The Kirby Institute in the development and implementation a number of international HIV-related projects including ACTUP which seeks to ensure Papua New Guinea’s public health system has greater capability and resilience to improve the lives of all people with HIV, and prevent vertical transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B.
The role will lead day‑to‑day project management across the full project lifecycle, translating strategic objectives into clear outcomes, milestones and performance measures. Working closely with technical leads, partners and key stakeholders, the Project Manager will provide high‑quality technical and strategic support, manage risks, budgets and governance requirements, and ensure effective delivery in complex, low‑resource settings. The project manager must willing and have availability to travel.
The role reports to Deputy Program Lead, Asia and Pacific Health Program and will have one direct report.
Some key skills required:
- Postgraduate qualifications in public health, international development with significant demonstrable work experience in working in global health projects, or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
- Experience working on public health and development projects in Papua New Guinea or other low resource settings is essential.
- Proven and extensive experience working with global development partners, multi-lateral and bilateral donor and ministries of health in low resource settings.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of, and preferably experience implementing HIV-related public health programs and developing policy and guidelines in low resource settings is highly desirable.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
