About the People & Culture Business Partnering (P&C BP) Team: Delivering both operational and strategic services, the P&C BP team is embedded within their Faculty or Division to manage people matters with confidence, care, and consistency. Each function partners with their people leaders to achieve their people strategy and further meaningful work we do at UNSW as a leader in teaching and research.

Why Your Role Matters:
We’re seeking a People Advisor to play a meaningful role across the employee life cycle within their dedicated portfolio. Experienced in providing people-focused advice, you’ll build trusted relationships across your client group to offer high-level HR solutions across workplace and employee relations, balancing operational support with strategic insight. 
In this hands-on people-centred role, your day to day will include: 

  • Collaborating with People Partners to deliver effective HR solutions, support workforce initiatives, and contributing to local people plans, no two days are the same. 
  • Offering informed employee lifecycle guidance tailored to your business areas, supporting local stakeholder decision-making across workforce planning, performance and early-stage ER cases.
  • Implementing P&C policies and procedures across workplace matters including workplace change and conduct, ensuring consistency and risk mitigation.
  • Delivering effective P&C workforce reporting, presenting insights to leaders to support people strategy decisions.
  • Supporting P&C Officers, People Experience Team with escalated queries in your area, interpreting policies and applying procedures as per UNSW’s enterprise agreements

This role works alongside the P&C People Experience Hub as well as dedicated People Partners for the Faculty/Division, reporting to their Senior People Partner.

Who You Are: Holding existing HR experience in a complex and client- centred environment, you’re ready to step into a more strategically focused role; bringing a strong understanding of employment frameworks, policies, and procedures, with proven ability to confidently interpret and independently apply them.
Alongside the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline, with experience in providing people-focused advice and support in a complex organisation, or equivalent competence.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders and provide advice that is responsive to local needs and context.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting case management processes (e.g. performance concerns, workplace issues, early-stage employee relations) with sound judgment in knowing when to escalate.
  • Demonstrated analytical capability to use data, feedback, and insights to inform advice, identify trends and improvements.
  • Support knowledge sharing and capability uplift across the People Experience team.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.
