The Bioanalytical Mass Spectroscopy Facility (BMSF) is a facility within the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre. BMSF provides extensive expertise in mass spectrometry, including proteomics, lipidomics, metabolomics, qualitative and quantitative small molecule GC/MS, LC/MS and Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry. The facility supports and collaborates with a variety of research groups within UNSW, as well as groups at other universities, other research institutes in Australia and overseas, along with commercial customers.

The Research Fellow plays a significant and strategic role in leading and supporting research projects, predominantly in CG/MS along with LC/MS, as part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers, scientists and technical staff in the area of Mass Spectrometry within the Facility. The role will mainly focus on supporting and training researchers, users and staff who access the BMSF. The Research Fellow will lead projects, method development, routine analysis and provide strategic advice on GC/MS research infrastructure to expand the types of mass spectrometry capabilities within the BMSF small molecule team.

The role of the Research Fellow report to the Director of BMSF and has no direct reports.

Who you are

You have a PhD in a discipline involving extensive use of GC/MS analytical equipment for bioanalytical mass spectrometry, including advanced small molecule analysis, data interpretation, and assay development.

You can demonstrate strong collaboration skills, with experience training users and building relationships in multidisciplinary environments. You also have excellent communication and time management skills.

A commitment to research integrity, safety, and continuous learning in analytical and biological research is essential.
