About the People & Culture Business Partnering (P&C BP) Team: Delivering both operational and strategic human resources services, the P&C BP Team manage people matters with confidence, care, and consistency. Partnering with their people leaders to achieve their people strategy and further meaningful work we do at UNSW as a leader in teaching and research.
Why Your Role Matters:
As a People Partner located within our Faculties (UNSW Business School or ADA) you will contribute to the strategic direction and overall employee experience across your designated client group. In this role, you will provide high‑quality advice and support on a broad range of people matters, ensuring the delivery of fair, consistent and effective processes while strengthening leadership capability across the organisation.
With a strong background in HR business partnering, you will build trusted relationships with stakeholders and deliver informed, solutions‑focused guidance across workplace and employee relations. Embedded within your faculty, you'll build localised knowledge to expertly advise on complex people issues, supporting organisational initiatives, and enabling engaged workplace culture.
In this hands‑on and people‑centred role, your responsibilities will include:
- Act as a dedicated Partner, providing trusted people-focused advice and guidance to managers and employees in your client group.
- Proactively partnering with clients to provide effective P&C solutions, no two days are the same.
- Offer employee lifecycle guidance from performance management to line management.
- Manage employee relation matters conduct concerns, redundancies, medical incapacity and grievances.
- Implementing P&C policies and procedures and improvements as an expert in your field.
- Overseeing workforce planning including recruitment, internal mobility and managing workplace change.
- Providing effective P&C workforce reporting and analysis to support informed decision making by leaders.
- Supporting and mentoring our Advisors and Officers for a collaborative P&C team.
This role works alongside the P&C People Hub as well as dedicated other People Partners and Advisors.
Reporting into the Senior People Partner for the faculty, you'll join a close-knit team, furthering your career in a supportive environment which focuses on learning, progression and excellence.
Who You Are: We're looking for a senior HR professional with experience across a similar role in a complex and client- centred environment; a strategically minded Consultant looking for their next partnering role.
As a confident communicator, you’ll hold excellent stakeholder management skills with a strong client focus alongside the following skills and experience:
- Strong working knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and enterprise agreements, with demonstrated experience in applying these autonomously to resolve complex people matters.
- Proven ability to manage employee relations and casework with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated capability to deliver timely, practical HR advice in a dynamic and complex environment.
- Experience supporting junior P&C staff, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Ability to interpret and apply people data and insights to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and contexts.
