Why Your Role Matters:

Research Technology Services (ResTech) manages UNSW's shared high-performance computing and data platforms. We support researchers with access to computation, technical expertise, in-project software engineering, and training. We also provide tools to collect, store, share, and manage data as simply and securely as possible. 

Our services are available to all UNSW researchers (staff and research degree candidates), and to external researchers, government, and industry users through collaborations and partnerships.

This role entails providing project management, reporting and analytical support, developing communications, building key internal and external relationships, and developing/ consulting on key programs and projects such as the national HeSANDA Cohort Studies Network and the ARDC Frontier Federated Machine Learning project. This includes providing input into design requirements to enable data discovery and requests for health cohort data through Health Data Australia, modifying local data systems, and supporting the onboarding of nominated health cohorts to Health Data Australia.

The role reports to the Manager (Research Data and Software), supporting the Executive Director of Research Technology Services and has no direct reports.

Who You Are:

You bring demonstrated project management experience and a strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, including strategic planning, objective setting, and comprehensive documentation.

You also understand data sharing practices that support secondary data use, including the FAIR principles and the Five Safes framework, as well as the principles underpinning ethical and lawful research conduct, such as the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research, and the Australian Privacy Principles. You are knowledgeable about working with sensitive clinical data and/or machine learning AI.

Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail in all deliverables are essential and you work effectively and collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation and have experience in budgeting and resource allocation. You are proficient in a range of computer systems and applications, including the Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project.

You can demonstrate your strong time management skills, with the ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet competing deadlines using sound judgement and initiative. You work productively both within a team and independently, and you are committed to UNSW’s aims, objectives, values, policies, and health and safety responsibilities.
