- Remuneration: Professional Level 5 $88K- $100K pro rata based on experience + 17% Super+ Annual Leave Loading
- Location: Kensington Campus, New South Wales. This is an onsite position.

Position Summary
The Research Assistant will support the BUBs Quit research study within the Population and Child Health (PCH) group, which focuses on smoking cessation during pregnancy. Working across several hospitals and AMIHS in Sydney and New South Wales, the role involves assisting with participant recruitment, consent, and follow-up of mothers participating in the study.
The position contributes to both quantitative and qualitative research activities, including data collection, data entry, data management, and analysis using tools such as REDCap and electronic medical records. The Research Assistant will also assist with interviews, focus groups, and systematic review activities while maintaining research databases and records in accordance with high scientific, ethical, and professional standards.
Skills & Experience
- A relevant tertiary qualification in health, psychology, behavioral science or a related discipline or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Some experience in consenting participants, data collection, surveys, interviews, focus groups.
- Familiarity with REDCap and REGIS.
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment to achieve team objectives within set timeframes.
- Highly motivated with excellent time management, organizational and analytical problem-solving skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills, ie. MS office suite including spreadsheets.
- Experience/knowledge of qualitative research methods.
- Experience/knowledge of basic data science database programs, statistical software (i.e. R, SPSS, SAS).
- Experience/knowledge survey data collection and data management (i.e. REDCap).
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
