Position Summary
A Junior Multimedia Designer is responsible for creating professional-quality audio, video and graphic assets to support UNSW Lifelong Learning’s programs, tools, and promotional and training materials intended for staff and external stakeholders.
This role will:
- Utilise the provided scripts from subject-matter experts to create audio and video recordings with a web-based media editing application, then edit them to align with UNSW’s design standards.
- Use video editing software to trim, edit and update existing video assets based on a provided brief.
- Create simple, accessible images (e.g. charts, infographics, or edited photos/screenshots) based on written requests or low-res mock-ups.
- Create templates and drafts for social media style posts and informative or instructional content based on UNSW’s programs, case studies and software solutions.
- Use templates and brand guidelines to create informative or instructional content (short videos, infographics, brochures) when a written brief and source assets are provided.
- Communicate status updates and questions or suggestions on the brief to stakeholders in the Lifelong Learning team, and follow-up on feedback received.
- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
A person engaged is generally expected to have the following skills and experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to work independently within a specified project plan and process.
- Proficient and confident in using WYSIWYG web apps and graphic design tools (such as Canva, Photoshop and Illustrator)
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
