  • Remuneration: Level 8 $127,351 - $143,489 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading
  • Location: UNSW Kensington Campus, NSW (hybrid)

Why Your Role Matters:

The Claims Manager plays a key role in ensuring the University meets its pay and entitlements obligations in a fair, transparent and legally robust way. Reporting to the Head of Quality & Compliance, you will lead complex claims investigations and ensure the University’s claims management process is best designed to strengthen compliance, governance and employee trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the University-wide pay and entitlements claims process.
  • Review, redesign and implement an efficient, best-practice claims management framework.
  • Lead complex pay claims investigations, including assessment against Enterprise Agreements and legislation, calculation methodologies, remediation and negotiation of outcomes.
  • Identify root causes of pay issues and provide practical recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide strategic and operational advice to senior leaders and claimants.
  • Develop reports for internal governance and external authorities.
  • Manage and mentor a claims officer and act as the escalation point for complex matters.
  • Build strong relationships across a complex stakeholder environment.

Who You Are:

You are a confident specialist with strong experience in industrial relations, employment law or HR compliance, and a proven ability to manage complex, sensitive matters.

You will bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial instruments and wages compliance.
  • Experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality outcomes.
