Remuneration: Level 6 from $103,866 + 17% Superannuation (Pro Rata)

Why This Role Matters

The WIL Officer plays a pivotal role in coordinating placement opportunities across Law and Criminology WIL courses, including internships, clinics, legal competitions, and the UNSW Law Journal. You’ll be the primary contact for students and host partners, ensuring a smooth recruitment and placement process.

We’re looking for someone who can critically assess current processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement new systems that enhance efficiency and experience for all stakeholders. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with student placement or recruitment coordination experience and a passion for engaging with people — including visiting partner organisations for check-ins and relationship building.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinate and manage WIL placements: Advertise opportunities, handle applications, and oversee offer and acceptance processes.
  • Support student-led initiatives: manage the coordination and approval process for   student self-organised internships. .
  • Engage with stakeholders: Build and maintain strong relationships with host partners and internal teams, including conducting check-in visits.
  • Provide administrative support: Manage shared inboxes, respond to enquiries, and enrol students in WIL courses.
  • Maintain accurate records: Track placement data and prepare regular reports for leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Represent WIL at events, support broader engagement activities, and proactively refine and implement new processes.

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in WIL or recruitment coordination; legal sector familiarity is a plus.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to client service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with online systems/databases.
