The Director, Engagement & Student Success is a critical strategic and enabling leadership role within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Success portfolio at UNSW.
The role is responsible for driving the planning, design, and delivery of initiatives that enhance student belonging, wellbeing, engagement, and success services across the Portfolio. This includes leading the consistent design, development and consultation for the Student Success Frameworks and leadership input into delivering outcomes required within the UNSW Strategic Pillars, driving the ongoing evaluation of initiatives and services, including policy implementation and digital experience solutions aligned with UNSW’s strategic goals. With a strong focus on student mental health, wellbeing, and inclusive support services, the Director will foster an agile, data-informed, and AI-enabled service culture. The role will develop a cohesive approach to student engagement partnerships and student ambassadors, enabling coordination across faculties and divisions to drive continuous improvement and effective implementation of student services.
The Director will also lead communication and engagement strategies that promote student participation in campus and residential life, elevating the value of student health and wellbeing, and strategic industry partnerships as applied across the portfolio. Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty leaders, student organisations, and other portfolio directors.

Proven leadership in the design and delivery of institution-wide student engagement frameworks, programs, and strategies, including policy development and implementation aligned with regulatory and legislative requirements.

In-depth knowledge of higher education policies, legislation, regulations, and governance frameworks.

High-level interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with a strong track record of building effective, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including diverse groups.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to inform decision-making, enhance service delivery, and support continuous improvement.
