Why Your Role Matters 

The Senior Change Manager (Student Systems) provides both strategic leadership and hands-on delivery of change management across the student systems portfolio. This role is responsible for embedding consistent change frameworks, driving stakeholder engagement, ensuring benefit realisation, and leading key change activities from analysis through to implementation. 

As a senior leader, you will guide a small team of change professionals, ensuring project-based delivery is seamlessly integrated with BAU training and adoption initiatives. You’ll work in close partnership with business leaders, IT, and governance forums to enhance organisational readiness and nurture a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement. 

Reporting to the Head of Student Systems & Projects, this role has up to eight direct reports and may also collaborate with other Change Management professionals across the organisation or within major project teams. 

Main Responsibilities Summary 

  • Provide both strategic leadership and hands-on delivery of change management across the student systems portfolio 

  • Define and embed change management frameworks, methodologies, and practices, applying them personally to key initiatives as needed 

  • Lead end-to-end change activities including analysis, stakeholder engagement, planning, communications, and training 

  • Ensure strong alignment between project-facing change delivery and BAU adoption and training activities 

  • Partner with contractor Change Managers on large-scale programs to ensure consistency, alignment, and knowledge transfer 

  • Build trusted relationships across faculties, divisions, and governance forums to drive engagement and organisational readiness 

  • Report on change impacts, adoption outcomes, risks, and benefits to senior stakeholders and governance groups 

  • Champion continuous improvement, incorporating lessons learned into future frameworks and delivery approaches 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team to build capability and sustain a collaborative, adaptive culture 

Who You Are

You are a collaborative, change manager professional aligned with UNSW’s vision and values. You will bring:

  • Certification and deep expertise in change methodologies and associated tools (highly desirable) 

  • Demonstrated experience leading and personally delivering all aspects of change (analysis, planning, stakeholder engagement, communications, training) for large-scale initiatives 

  • Proven experience leading major system uplift and implementation projects, with relevant certifications or a strong ability to clearly explain how you’ve applied the required methodologies in practice (essential) 

  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on delivery in complex project and BAU environments 

  • Experience coordinating with contractor Change Managers on major programs to ensure alignment and effective delivery 

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with confidence presenting to executive and governance audiences 

  • Proven capability in leading, coaching, and developing a team, fostering collaboration and professional growth

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on adoption outcomes and benefits realisation

  • Working knowledge of Agile delivery and experience collaborating within cross-functional project teams 

Candidates will need to have ongoing working rights – this role is not available for sponsorship. Occasional work outside standard hours may be required during peak change or go-live periods.
