In this leadership role, you will drive the transformation of UNSW’s International Recruitment Strategy from a market-led to a channel-led approach, focusing on digital-first recruitment, sales excellence, and CRM innovation. Your efforts will build a diverse, high-quality portfolio of recruitment channels, operationalized through regional market teams.
You will oversee key international recruitment pathways, including education agent networks, government and industry-sponsored programs, transnational education partnerships, international high schools, and study abroad enrolments. This role is vital to expanding UNSW’s global reach, enhancing student diversity, and maximizing return on investment across recruitment activities.
As the lead for the International Audience Squad, you will guide a cross-functional team across the Marketing & Digital Experience pillars to ensure alignment and execution of the international recruitment strategy. You will also collaborate closely with senior stakeholders from the Office of Global Affairs, faculties, Admissions, and UNSW College to embed a commercially focused, high-performance culture.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Future Student Recruitment, this role leads one direct report and plays a critical role in shaping UNSW’s international student recruitment success.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:  
- Lead the development and implementation of the UNSW International Student Recruitment Strategy, developing a comprehensive channel-led, digital-first strategy aligned to student recruitment targets, including driving significant channel and market diversification objectives.
- Develop specific strategies for and optimise the performance of all international recruitment channels, including agents, sponsored students, TNE partners, international schools, and study abroad.
- Lead the cross-functional International Squad within Marketing & Digital Experience, ensuring prioritisation of workstreams across teams, coordinating implementation of initiatives and optimising processes.
- Drive the digital-first transformation of international recruitment and sales processes by leading the adoption of innovative lead management strategies, marketing automation, and CRM optimisation.
- Champion the integration of digital tools and data-driven approaches to enhance lead nurturing, improve conversion rates, and deliver a seamless prospective student experience across all international channels.
About You:   
- A relevant tertiary education (MBA or equivalent) with extensive experience in commercial sales excellence, strategic channel development, sales and development consulting, or an equivalent level of industry knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven track record in designing and executing recruitment or sales channel strategies within an audience-centric, KPI-driven, commercial context.
- Proven leadership in driving digital-first transformation and change across international recruitment and sales, including the strategic implementation of lead management frameworks, marketing automation, and CRM optimisation.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading major strategic planning shifts and organisational change and cultural transformation initiatives, with a proven ability to align teams around strategic priorities, embed new ways of working, and foster a culture of innovation, agility, and accountability.
- Proven experience leading and scaling high-performance teams in complex, commercial environments. Skilled in driving agile, market-responsive workstreams, setting strategic KPIs, and fostering a culture of accountability to consistently achieve outstanding recruitment and sales results.
- Extensive experience driving sales excellence in multi-channel, multi-market recruitment. Skilled in designing sales enablement strategies, including training, performance frameworks, and digital tools to boost lead conversion and achieve growth targets.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with experience working with senior stakeholders across diverse cultural contexts.
- Significant experience leading cross-functional teams or squads in a matrixed environment, with the ability to prioritise, coordinate, and deliver complex initiatives across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong commercial acumen in a KPI driven sales/marketing context with an ability to set targets, plan complex work plans with competing priorities and review return on investment of activity.
- Strong understanding of international education markets, student mobility trends, and the regulatory and operational frameworks that govern global recruitment.
- Demonstrated ability to use data and CRM systems to inform strategy, track performance, and drive continuous improvement in recruitment outcomes.
- Significant experience in budget development, financial management, and ROI analysis to support strategic decision-making and resource optimisation.
- Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and contribute to high-level strategic planning.
