Why Your Role Matters 

The Student Accommodation Applications & Operations Coordinator (internally titled Accommodation Services Officer) plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional experience to current and future students. Working within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education & Student Experience portfolio – Wellbeing pillar – this role ensures smooth, efficient, and high-quality service across all UNSW Accommodation residences. 

With over 5,000 applications received annually and limited bed availability, this role is essential in reviewing and processing student accommodation applications, while balancing high-volume enquiries and managing expectations with care and professionalism. 

You’ll work closely with the wider UNSW Accommodation team, internal service units, and external providers to support key operational functions. This includes: 

  • Reviewing and managing applications in the StarRez system 

  • Coordinating the check-in and check-out process 

  • Supporting front desk operations 

  • Conducting room inspections and liaising with residents 

  • Managing bookings, maintenance coordination, and casual staff onboarding

Who You Are 

We are looking for someone who is customer service centric, who is aligned with UNSW’s vision and comes with: 

  • Previous experience working in customer service and coordination roles in a high-volume environment, ideally with a background working in student accommodation bookings 

  • Demonstrated communication and stakeholder management skills – as you will need to liaise and rely on a lot of people to do your role effectively 

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, accuracy and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines 

  • Advanced level of computer literacy, with excellent skills in resident management systems (e.g. StarRez) ideally, asset management systems (e.g. Archibus), and Microsoft Office applications and databases. 

We expect the successful candidate to work at least 4 days on campus with the option to occasionally work one day from home. The role operates Monday to Friday, 9 to 5. We have an annual shutdown from the 22nd of December until the 5th of January, during which the successful person will be required to take leave. 

Expected start date is asap (to allow a handover), with an end date end of January 2027. 

Candidates will need to have ongoing working rights – this role is not available for sponsorship.
