Why this role matters:
The Senior Lecturer (Level C) will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, student‑centred education, conducting impactful research, and contributing to leadership within the St Vincent’s Healthcare Clinical Campus, School of Clinical Medicine, UNSW Medicine & Health. This position is responsible for designing and delivering innovative teaching and learning experiences, ensuring alignment with best‑practice pedagogy and UNSW’s commitment to educational excellence.
Reporting to the Head of Campus, the Senior Lecturer will lead and contribute to course design, assessment, and evaluation across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, supporting the student learning experience through engaging, evidence‑based approaches. The role will also foster collaboration across the Campus, School, and Faculty, contributing to strategic initiatives, professional development activities, and committee work.
In addition to educational leadership, the Senior Lecturer will undertake independent, high‑quality research that is nationally recognised, develop research groups in their area of expertise, and secure competitive research funding. The position involves mentoring students and colleagues, supervising Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates to timely completion, and building strong professional and industry networks to advance both teaching and research outcomes.
This role requires an academic leader who can inspire students, contribute meaningfully to the academic community, and enhance UNSW’s national standing in education and research in their discipline.
Skills Required:
- A medical degree and Fellowship of the RACP (or comparable international equivalent).
- Eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA.
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience will be desirable.
- Proven track record in specialty research and clinical practice.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Experience of implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
- Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
- Demonstrated experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
- Experience in successfully recruiting and supervising high calibre students.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
