Why this role matters:

The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will play a key role in advancing the teaching and service goals of the School and Faculty, while actively engaging in scholarly research and professional development on both national and international levels. This role requires a strong commitment to academic excellence in teaching and the ability to contribute meaningfully to the School’s research profile and professional outreach.

The role of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer reports to the Head of Physiology and has no direct reports.

Skills Required:

At Level B:

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective biomedical teaching including development, delivery (including online delivery methods), and course convening, at an undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships with a diverse range of colleagues and students.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

At Level C (In addition to the Skills required at Level B):

  • Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
  • Demonstrated capacity for research leadership, i.e. production of high quality, high impact outcomes and success in obtaining competitive funding.
  • Experience in successfully recruiting and supervising high calibre students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
