Senior Practitioner Kinship First Suppports

Your new role

As the Senior Practitioner, you will have oversight of all Kinship Carer Part B assessments including allocation and review. In this role, you will work collaboratively with Child Protection staff to ensure that the needs and issues for children, young people and their carers are prioritised and responded to.

You will also provide practice support, mentoring and guidance to Case Workers in conjunction with the Team Leader and complete assessments as required.

About the program

First Supports is a DFFH funded program providing the following services for carers and the children/young people placed with them by Child Protection:

  • Completing comprehensive assessments for all new placements
  • Providing family services support for up to 12 months to ensure placements offer safety, stability and high-quality care for children and young people unable to live with parents.
  • Early provision of material and financial support to ensure placements are suitable
  • Provide carer support, access to training and carer group work
Your skills and experience
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, human services or related field.
  • Current driver’s licence valid in Victoria
  • Demonstrated experience in community service sector preferably in care services, case management and/or case contracting.
  • Experience in supporting kinship care families or other vulnerable children and young people involved with Child Protection (preferred)
  • Excellent organisational skills; good computer literacy skills including demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office
