Your new role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Group Respite and Flexible Support Coordinator to join our team. This vital role supports individuals engaged in the HACC PYP (Home and Community Care Program for Younger People) and Support for Carers Program by coordinating meaningful and flexible group-based activities that foster connection, emotional wellbeing, and independence.
As the Coordinator, you will design and implement programs that encourage participation in everyday life, rebuild confidence, and enhance social inclusion—all while providing essential respite for carers. You’ll lead the planning and delivery of group activities with the support of Volunteers and Peer Mentors, ensuring all services are delivered in a way that upholds human dignity and promotes social justice and equity.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate group and peer-based activities that support social engagement, wellbeing, and respite
- Recruit, train, and supervise Volunteers and Peer Mentors to deliver inclusive and empowering programs
- Build capacity and confidence in participants through tailored support strategies
- Work collaboratively with carers, participants, and community stakeholders
- Monitor program outcomes and ensure services align with funding requirements and organizational values
Your skills and experience
You will meet the person specification in the position description including having a relevant tertiary/post-secondary qualification in community services, disability, or related disciplines. Experience of working with vulnerable people would be advantageous.
You will also have:
- Demonstrated ability to participate in a multi-skilling learning environment and be able to relate positively to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to deliver capacity building and social inclusion activities for people with all abilities.
- Knowledge of and previous working experience in the disability field.
- Experience in advocating for disadvantaged individuals with complex needs.
- Experience in coordinating and supporting Volunteers.
