Your new role

In this newly created role as Head of P&C, you will lead the team to shape the future of Uniting's people by providing strategic, tactical, and transformative leadership to both Executive and P&C teams. Working in a large and complex organisation, you will use your advanced communication and relational leadership style to steer the full spectrum of P&C functions, ensuring seamless and impactful support throughout the entire employee lifecycle.

Your proactive approach to talent management and deliberate fostering of a culture of engagement and continuous development will ensure our P&C priorities directly enable organisational goals. Your experience in leading data-driven decision making and leveraging analytics to enhance recruitment, retention, and employee satisfaction will ultimately support the Uniting teams to thrive.

We have recently embarked on a journey of implementing a full end-to-end HCM solution and need your expertise and leadership in this space to ensure successful implementation and optimisation.

To highlight a few elements you'll be responsible for:

  • Actively advising the Uniting Senior Management Group on people matters and directly contribute to the development of Uniting's strategic plan while developing and maintaining the strategic P&C plan
  • Leading the continuous evolution and optimisation of the P&C service delivery model, including the readiness work as we move to implement a new HCM in the coming 18 months
  • Leading the provision of expert advice on employment and industrial relations matters
  • Actively leading the development of the P&C Division, enhancing both technical and relational skills development and strategically aligned improvement initiatives
About your team

Working as a Senior Leader within the largest support service function at Uniting, you will represent P&C on the People, Quality, and Strategy Leadership team and lead a team of 30 HR professionals through four (4) direct reports who form the P&C Leadership team. Each Senior Manager (direct report) is responsible for a particular P&C function including Business Partnering; Talent & People Services; Workforce Experience; and Workplace Relations. The P&C team are an engaged, values-aligned and supportive team that work cross-functionally to collaborate and effectively partner with leaders and employees across all Uniting programs delivered throughout metro and regional Victoria and Tasmania.

Your skills and experience

Your extensive leadership and generalist HRM experience provides you the capability to, and comfort in flexing between strategic thinking / planning and 'hands on' tactical delivery. Having worked in complex matrixed organisational structures, you have a curious mindset that sees you navigate complexity and operate in ambiguity with ease.

You will also bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and or post grad with a HRM focus
  • Leadership experience in the implementation of a HCM solution
  • Demonstrated advanced communication and engagement skills, enabling you to drive positive change in complex organisations
  • Sound working IR / ER knowledge across multiple Modern Awards, employment legislation and industrial regulations
  • Demonstrated success in delivering HR projects
  • Strong budget management experience
