About the opportunity

The Home and Community Care Program For Younger People (HACC PYP) supports younger people with disabilities or medical/health conditions, and their respective carers to live as independently as possible in their own homes. Younger people are defined as people less than 65 years, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged less than 50 years. The Program assists with a range of daily activities including personal care, dressing, preparing meals, house cleaning, property maintenances, community access and using public transport.

As a Volunteer Coordinator, you be responsible for all aspects of volunteer management including recruitment, training, supervision and engagement of volunteers within the program, which operates across the Baw Baw and Latrobe local government areas. The volunteers will assist consumers to participate in everyday activities, maintain or rebuild confidence, improve social connectedness and emotional wellbeing, and stay active and healthy. The Volunteer Coordinator will promote human dignity, social justice and equity.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a tertiary qualification in Disability, Social Work, Community Services or a related discipline.

You will also have:

  • Previous experience in volunteer coordination and support roles, including experience in recruiting, training and supervising volunteers
  • Proven ability to effectively engage and collaborate with a volunteer workforce in a manner that recognises their contributions
  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable people
  • Ability to coordinate capacity building and social inclusion activities for people with all abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Current first aid and CPR certificates
