About the opportunity

The Home and Community Care Program For Younger People (HACC PYP) supports younger people with disabilities or medical/health conditions, and their respective carers to live as independently as possible in their own homes. Younger people are defined as people under 65 years, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged under 50 years. The Program assists with a range of daily activities including personal care, dressing, preparing meals, house cleaning, property maintenance, community access and using public transport.

As a Home Maintenance Worker, you will assist with various home and garden maintenance tasks which help clients of the HACC PYP Program to maintain a safe, habitable and healthy home environment. The Worker will assist with minor home repairs, modifications and the installation of mobility aid equipment to improve the client’s capacity to remain living independently at home.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having:

  • A relevant professional trade qualification/certificate (desirable but not essential)
  • Previous experience in the provision of general exterior and interior home and garden repairs, maintenance and modifications
  • Ability to review and interpret occupational therapy drawings
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work relating to home maintenance
  • Proven ability to work independently and also as part of a collaborative team
