The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Lead to be part of our Pay Accuracy program. You’ll take charge of ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant quality assurance across a workforce with over 100 Enterprise Agreements. You’ll will lead a small team of experts reviewing payroll and Kronos data to ensure that employees have been paid in line with the EA requirements, and where applicable, recommend improvements to enhance future compliance. You will also manage relationships with stakeholders across the business to help improve pay accuracy and EA rule awareness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the delivery of a major workstream of the program, primarily focused on Payroll and Time & Attendance related activities
- Lead a small team of payroll and Kronos experts to perform Quality assurance work around pay accuracy and Enterprise Agreement compliance, organise their workload and ensure they contribute to the project deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with industrial instruments, relevant payroll legislation, and EA provisions.
- Work with the Data and Analytics team to ensure that pay modelling is accurate and reflects what has been paid to employees.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of payroll queries and issues
- Identify and document a list of potential solutions and gain agreement from key stakeholders
- Document any potential risks associated with the current payroll processes
- Support operational business units with pay solutions that make it easier for users to meet EA pay rules
- Review processes regularly, recommending and implementing efficiency improvements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
About You
You’re an experienced Payroll professional who thrives in complex environments and has an exceptional understanding of payroll systems, legislation, and stakeholder engagement. You will bring:
- Proven payroll leadership experience, managing and developing staff in a high-volume payroll environment.
- Strong knowledge of statutory payroll requirements, legislation, and salary packaging.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret Awards, EBAs, and industrial instruments.
- Experience with Time & Attendance and Payroll systems essential.
- Extensive previous experience with Complex large organizational payroll systems and compliance projects preferred.
- Previous experience of working with data models and processes relating to payroll systems
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, collaborating across boundaries with the ability to influence and challenge effectively
- Strong capability in using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Skilled in LSL legislation, termination/redundancy calculations, PAYG, and reconciliations.
- Strong time management, problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
- The ability to manage other payroll resources whilst having the experience to identify what to look for when validating the models.
