The Opportunity
The Fixed Assets Reliability Engineer – Process is responsible for providing engineering and technical support in the development of plant & equipment compliance and optimisation strategies. The Reliability Engineer - Process is involved in the ongoing development and implementation of asset integrity processes and systems for the purposes of assuring correct maintenance & suitability of asset for safe and optimised operation and identifying opportunities for standardisation and continuous improvement of those processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure that all maintenance and reliability activities comply with industry regulations and safety standards.
- Provide technical support to develop and introduce ongoing reliability improvements and fit for purpose asset integrity strategies whilst maintaining safety, business standards and compliance.
- Regularly assess the health and condition of critical assets by analysing data from various monitoring systems to identify potential issues or failures.
- Investigate equipment failures using RCA techniques like the 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to determine the underlying causes and develop strategies to prevent recurrences.
- Continuously seek ways to improve asset reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance the overall performance of assets i.e., preventative, proactive and reliability-based maintenance, repair, and replacement strategies.
- Lead or contribute to reliability improvement projects and initiatives, managing resources, timelines, and budgets effectively.
- Ensure that asset reliability activities align with environmental sustainability goals, including energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, engineering, and procurement, to ensure that asset reliability goals align with overall organizational objectives.
- Keep stakeholders informed of internal / industry best practice solutions and opportunities.
- Maintain advanced knowledge (Subject Matter Expert) of Fixed Plant and Equipment Management System(s) and processes to support Fixed Plant and Equipment business personnel.
About you
The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise and experience of Asset reliability involving heavy industry / process equipment resulting in extensive knowledge of maintenance systems and processes. They will also have strong foundations in:
- Bachelor’s degree in Process / Chemical Engineering or associated fields required
- Industry-related work experience preferably waste management, resource recovery or manufacturing industry.
- A Chartered Engineer with IE Australia (or eligible for chartered status)
- Ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply applicable engineering techniques and procedures in conjunction with relevant Australian Standards
- Experience developing and managing a reliability program for Electrical Equipment
- Managing stakeholders from different functions or in line roles
- Compliance with Hazardous areas/zones, safety processes in a heavy industry environment
- Experience in Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance
- Experience in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and using risk management tools and techniques (C&E Analysis, FMEA and Risk Rating)
- Team member experience in HAZOP/CHAZOP reviews
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements related to asset reliability and maintenance
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software
- Understanding asset management principles, including ISO 55000 standards
