Local Security Officer - Ravensthorpe

Role Overview:

The Local Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for personnel, assets, and operations at a remote site. This role requires vigilance, professionalism, and the ability to respond effectively to security incidents under challenging conditions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control access to site facilities, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
  • Conduct regular patrols and inspections to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, including fire, medical, and environmental hazards.
  • Provide crowd control and manage security during events or high-traffic periods.
  • Complete detailed incident reports and maintain accurate security logs.
  • Liaise with emergency services and site management during critical situations.
  • Support health, safety, and environmental (ESH) compliance initiatives.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years Security FIFO experience
  • Certificate II in Security Operations
  • Manual Driver’s Licence (Class A)
  • National Police Clearance (NPC)
  • Blue Card
  • Current Security Officer Licence
  • Crowd Control Licence
  • White Card (Construction Induction)
  • RSA Certificate (Responsible Service of Alcohol)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Willing and able to complete the following prerequisites:
    • Snake Handler Certificate of Competency
    • Drug & Alcohol Screen Training
    • Driver Training
    • Fire Response Training
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in remote locations under extreme weather conditions

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

  • Previous Defence Force experience
  • Previous Police experience
  • ESH (Environment, Safety & Health) qualifications
