ESS, part of Compass Group, provides integrated hospitality and support services to the Australian Defence Force across Australia. We’re currently seeking energetic and customer-focused Gym Attendants to join our Sport and Recreation team. 

In this front-line role, you’ll be the welcoming face of the gym — ensuring a safe, professional, and engaging environment for Defence personnel. You’ll manage daily reception duties, conduct fitness inductions, and help maintain the facility to the highest standards. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Greet and assist gym users, providing exceptional customer service and support 

• Conduct fitness centre inductions and maintain accurate user records 

• Oversee daily operations, including equipment checks and general maintenance reporting 

• Ensure compliance with all safety and hygiene procedures 

• Support the coordination of fitness activities, programs, and events 

• Contribute to a clean, safe, and welcoming facility environment 

• Report hazards, near misses, or maintenance issues promptly and constructively 

What we’re looking for 

• Cert III or IV in Fitness (essential) 

• Current First Aid and CPR certification 

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

• Reliable, professional, and proactive approach to customer service 

• Experience in gym or recreation facility operations highly regarded 

• Demonstrated commitment to safety and team collaboration 

• Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check and Defence clearance 

• Australian Citizenship is a mandatory requirement (Defence security clearance required)
