We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our team based in Sydney. This role will involve supporting the General Counsel in managing and advising on a diverse range of disputes and providing legal advice to the business on regulatory matters.
A few of your responsibilities:
- Manage and drive outcomes across a diverse caseload of litigation matters.
- Assist with internal and regulatory reporting regarding disputes and regulatory issues.
- Provide legal advice and support to the business throughout the complaints handling process and assist with early resolution of matters where appropriate.
- Assist with drafting correspondence and legal documents relevant to complaints and disputes.
- Provide legal advice regarding regulatory and contentious issues.
- Manage and advise the business on whistleblower disclosures.
- Represent the company in conciliations, mediations and hearings before tribunals, commissions and dispute resolution bodies.
- Instruct and manage external law firms/counsel for externally briefed matters.
About you:
- You will have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively service and manage internal business stakeholders (including senior leadership) and competing demands in a legal role in which you will be sitting alongside your internal clients.
- You will need a law degree and 5 - 10 years of post-admission experience in a reputable law firm or in house legal role with demonstrated experience driving exceptional outcomes in a diverse range of litigated matters.
- Experience managing discrimination complaints or employment disputes before State commissions and tribunals will be highly regarded.
- Experience advising on regulatory issues, including notice responses will be highly regarded.
- You will need to demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and multiple priorities effectively in a highly regulated business.
