The Opportunity

Join a leading research environment as a Senior Technical Officer supporting the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS). This pivotal role applies specialist scientific and safety expertise to manage laboratory safety, infrastructure and operational services that underpin world-class research.

You will provide expert guidance on safety and physical infrastructure management across laboratories and associated facilities, ensuring safe work practices for staff and students while overseeing the compliant procurement of research consumables, services and assets. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in maintaining safe, efficient and high-performing research environments.

  • No.3: Excellent operational management skills with demonstrated experience establishing priorities, implementing improvements and meeting deadlines in a complex environment 
  • No.4. Demonstrated experience in purchasing of research equipment and consumables, observing purchasing protocols and managing safety
  • No.5. Demonstrated experience in management of research equipment and infrastructure in the University environment, working with the Buildings & Property group 
  • No.6. Demonstrated specialist knowledge of safety technology and legislation regards space use, research lab fit-out and research equipment, providing expert advice on safe working environments, safe work practices and safety protocols in labs and related facilities 
  • No.7. Demonstrated practice in supporting compliance with OH&S legislation and the regulations of statutory bodies and policies of the University, within a complex working environment 
  • No.8. Demonstrated capacity to document safe operating procedures and risk assessments including capacity for investigation and review of circumstances that may cause a risk to safety
