The Opportunity

The Senior Research Administration Officer role presents a unique opportunity for detail-oriented and service-driven individual to join a small, dynamic, high-performing team within the Faculty of Science Research Office at Monash University.

In this pivotal role, you will provide a range of administrative services to support the Faculty of Science graduate research strategies, programs and initiatives. You will work closely with students, supervisors, school and central professional staff, and other stakeholders, providing expert advice on a range of matters relating to graduate research admissions and candidature management.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a range of administrative services including policy advice, process management, committee support and reporting in relation to graduate research admissions, enrolment, progress management and candidature variation

  • Provide timely and accurate guidance to prospective and current students and faculty staff members

  • Coordinate student inductions, professional development training activities, the faculty 3MT competition and other graduate research student events

  • Conduct special projects to enhance the student experience

  • Provide assistance during peak graduate research scholarship rounds

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, collaborate with colleagues to meet team goals and uphold service excellence

About You

You are an enthusiastic and capable administrator with a passion for supporting research. You bring a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to accuracy and service.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field with subsequent experience in research administration or a related field

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • High-level computer literacy and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of the university graduate research environment and experience with systems like Callista and UniCRM (desirable)
